U.S. Army Fort Rucker Selects FCN's Desktop Alert Notification Platform for Emergency Mass Notification
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) June 18, 2009 -- FCN Technology Solutions (FCN -- http://www.fcnit.com ) and Desktop Alert, Inc. (http://www.desktopalert.net), a Premier Department of Defense Net-Centric Alert and Notification Technology Company, today announced FCN's Desktop Alert been chosen as the net-centric mass notification system to be used by Fort Rucker which is part of the U.S. Army IMCOM Installation Management Command Southeast Region.
Fort Rucker is a U.S. Army post located mostly in Dale County, Alabama, United States. It was named for a Civil War officer, Confederate General Edmund Rucker. The post is the primary flight training base for Army Aviation and is home to the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE) and the United States Army Aviation Museum. Small sections of the post also lie in Coffee, Geneva, and Houston counties. The US Army Aviation Center of Excellence is the dominant military facility at Fort Rucker. Training, doctrine, and testing are all key parts of the Center's mission to develop Army Aviation's capabilities.
All Army Aviation training has been undertaken at Fort Rucker since 1973, as well as training of US Air Force and ally helicopter pilots. The Center is home to the US Army Aviation Technical Test Center (ATTC), which conducts developmental aircraft testing for Army Aviation. The United States Army Operational Test and Evaluation Command's Test and Evaluation Coordination Office and TH-67 primary and instrument training are both located at Cairns Army Airfield. Operational units on the post include the 1st Aviation Brigade and the 110th Aviation Brigade handling Army Aviation training, and the USAF 23d Flying Training Squadron for the training of Air Force helicopter pilots.
"The addition of Desktop Alert to the FCN mass notification product spectrum enables FCN to deliver the total alert solution to Federal Government, Military and Public Safety Agencies," added George Sullivan President FCN.
"After a full evaluation of the competition the United States Army selected Desktop Alert to enhance the mass notification capabilities at Fort Rucker. One of the most compelling features in the selection process was Desktop Alerts' client application which never requires a vendor update. This eliminates 100% of the maintenance costs associated with like products offered by the competition. During a notification, Desktop Alert can contact thousands of computer users at their desktop within seconds and require them to click to confirm receipt of the message flashed on their screen. Then, those not verified can be contacted by other means such as email, SMS, and phone calls while results are automatically reported for viewing or printout," added David Zadick, President Desktop Alert Inc.
The Desktop Alert System rapidly delivers alerts through the IP network to all computer workstations using pop-up audio and visual alerts, and the computer monitor and speakers broadcast the message. The Desktop Alert System also delivers alerts to telephones, sends SMS text messages to cell phones and can send emails to computers and mobile devices (Blackberry devices and more).
The deployment of Desktop Alert furthers Fort Rucker's mass notification capabilities into compliance with the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) from the DoD. The April 2008 UFC recommends incorporation of a network-centric alerting system (NCAS) as an enhancement to the facility's mass notification system. Desktop Alert complies with the recommendations outlined by the UFC.
